ABOUT Ādinè

Welcome to Ādinè, a new digital publication that celebrates Iranian artists from present day to the past. We are thrilled to introduce you to a diverse and vibrant community of creatives, both in Iran and the Diaspora. Our goal is to create a space that connects people, fosters understanding, and promotes the rich cultural heritage of Iran.

A DEE NE – in Farsi it means Friday, in Hebrew ‘longing’ and ‘gentle’, Friday is an important day in Islam for gathering and prayer, as in Jewish practices. It’s the last day of the week in some parts of the world (like Sunday). Ādinè is also a popular Christian name, but more importantly, it goes with ‘ZINE’ if you sound out the ‘E’ 😉

Why Ādinè?

Our Zine is a new space that showcases contemporary Iranian art and artists, as well as explores the rich artistic traditions of Iran’s past. From in-depth interviews with industry experts to features on rising stars and established artists, we aim to bring you the best content from around the world.

We are committed to providing you with an engaging and interactive reading experience. Our digital platform allows us to incorporate multimedia elements such as videos, interactive graphics, and social media integration, bringing our stories to life in new and exciting ways. We hope to create a community of like-minded individuals who share a passion for Iran and the Arts.

At Ādinè, we encourage you to share your thoughts, opinions, and ideas with us. Whether through our social media channels or by leaving comments on our articles, we want to hear from you. We hope that our platform will become a trusted source of information and inspiration for you.

Not everyone enjoys freedom of speech. Artists in Iran often face significant hurdles, and there's an underlying mistrust rooted in past political conflicts. Decades have built layers of division and animosity.

To create a space where Iranian artists can illuminate their distinct voices, where their creations are showcased, their stories resonate, and their triumphs are celebrated. We aspire to be a platform fostering collaboration among artists across all media, a haven where artists can express themselves authentically without the need for endless explanations.

Adine is that endeavor. It’s a start, our own little corner to celebrate and nurture Iranian art and culture. To support, collaborate, and shine. This platform stands as both a beacon of our resilience and unity, and a tribute to the millennia of Iranian artistry that precedes us.
